The Operating Theater provides audiences with unusual, original, innovative, thought provoking performance, creating art that can only be fully experienced in a live forum. We experiment with perception and explore the visceral subjectivity of the human experience. We create high quality productions of lasting value.

In conjunction with Doctored Pictures, The Operating Theater channels original work from the stage to other media, and investigates ways in which the two meet utilizing experimentaion, multi-media, new technology, or combined art forms.

The Present Perfect - An eminent interior designer, in love with her crystalline art collection, is driven to eat glass. The play dissects the marriage of art and commerce, inviting the viewer to experience first hand the fine line between patron and voyeur.

The Van Driver Experience - a new-age happening with Van Driver, wordsmith and mind-tripper.

Are You ALIVE?! - The world's first meta-physical gameshow.

FLAT! - a BBC-style live/multimedia sitcom.

Mountain View Estates - a dark dance/theater comedy about the Real Estate Development.

We will choose a winner from qualifying entries received and announce it on Thursday May 29, 2008, on OperatingTheater.org. Members of The Operating Theater, the Van Driver cast, crew, staff, The Cherry Lane Theater and their relatives are exempt from entry. The winner is responsible for claiming his/her prize by June 7, 2008. (Because the NY Times posts reviews with only a “user name” we cannot be responsible for contacting the winner. The winner must contact us with their contact information in order for us to deliver the prize…duh.)
