Rumored to have been born in Westphalia, Germany, on the banks of the Rhine river, to Nansicht and Harald Schüler, performers in the German Circus Troupe "Die Staubsaugerverkaufer," Doctor Johann Hansel Sigmund "Otto" Schüler, was purportedly home schooled at a early age in studies of avant-garde performance art, German Expressionism and vacuum cleaner repair. Having allegedly been expelled twice from the Bielefeld Arts Academy and thrice from the Young Weimar Collegiate Artists Academy, for what administrators termed repeated and

incessant, "Sinnesverrenkung" of his fellow classmates.
Bitter, Dr. Schüler left Germany for America with the hopes of bringing his unique, abstract ideas of art and science to a fresh audience. He sought to experiment with performance that tested the boundaries of subjective perception and metaphysical structure. Since that time he has performed under many guises, with various troupes, as well as his own company of artists who have come to be called "Das Theater funktionierendes" (a.k.a. "The Operating Theater"). |
In November 2002, He created an online repository to vault his work in theater, film and visual artistry. Doctored Pictures, is this archive of records, an ever transmogrifying anthology of his attempts to understand and explore the illusion of the human experience.
